DC-Bass -- DisCoBoL (Washington DC Bassists List)

About DC-Bass
English (USA)

This list provides an electronic forum for amateur bass players of all styles and levels to gather and discuss issues that concern us, with an emphasis on the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia local music scene. Things we like to talk about include new must-try gear at local music stores, local luthiers, bands looking for bassists or vice-versa, and semi-regular DisCoBoL confluences (a.k.a. gear-fests :-), etc.

This list sees only moderate traffic most of the time. It can pick up significantly when we actually get off our Big Bottoms and try to meet in person. We've done several get-togethers and all have been very successful. At the first gearfest, we had 9 bassists, 21 basses and a Stick, along with enough amplification to demolish a house (though thankfully it's still standing :-). We're hoping that these become a regular spring/summer event and we're going to try to make future gatherings a little more focused on making music as opposed to gear drooling (well, who can deny that that has its appeal too?

Gig announcements are welcome! We gotta support each other out there!

We welcome electric and acoustic bass players, Stick players, and anything in between. All styles and levels are welcome too; our abilities lie along the entire range from novice to very talented, and having chosen the `coolest instrument in the band' we know we can always learn something from everyone. So don't be shy! Join in, and keep thumping those basses.
